LONDON 2012: Olympics Watch – Thurs 26th July

The first set of men’s group games in the Olympic Football competition take centre stage on the day before the Opening Ceremony.

Team GB will face against Senegal at Old Trafford, a match which rounds off a busy day of action across the UK.

It all begins shortly before midday with Honduras against Morocco at Hampden Park.

BBC Two’s live coverage follows the opening Games from 2.30pm, including Spain v Japan, before BBC One picks up the baton for the Team GB v Senegal match from Old Trafford at 7pm.

A further six fixtures will be held in Newcastle, Coventry, Cardiff and Glasgow.

Viewers can access these by pressing the Red Button on their digital remote, or by accessing the BBC’s Olympics channels or the BBC Sport website.

You can watch all the action from the first day of the Men’s Olympic Football competition across the BBC. Details below:

Great Britain men’s football side make their bow in the Olympic Football competition against Senegal at Old Trafford, Manchester.

Britain are coached by Stuart Pearce for this tournament and will also face Uruguay and the United Arab Emirates as they aim to finish in the top two in Group A and reach the quarter-finals.

Pearce can call on a squad of players aged under 23, augmented by three ‘over-age’ members, and will be hoping the selected stars from England and Wales can gel quickly against the Africans, having only gathered for one warm-up match against Brazil last week, which ended in a 2-0 defeat.

Senegal were the last side to book their place in the tournament, needing to win a play-off against Oman in April to secure their progress.

Gary Lineker presents live coverage on BBC One and BBC One HD, with analysis by Alan Hansen and Robbie Savage, and commentary by Jonathan Pearce and Mark Lawrenson.

Plus, there will be footage from Hyde Park on the arrival of the Olympic torch relay, and a look ahead to tomorrow’s opening ceremony.
