BSkyB has made its sports channels available on a pay-as-you go basis to non-Sky TV subscribers for the first time, providing access to all six Sky Sports channels for £9.99 a day.
Millions of people can enjoy a great selection of live sport on a simple pay-as-you-go basis after the launch of Sky Sports on NOW TV, Sky’s new internet TV service.
With no contract, set-up costs or installation, NOW TV offers a new and flexible way to access great live sport, as for just £9.99, customers can get unlimited 24-hour access to all six Sky Sports channels – Sky Sports 1-4, Sky Sports News and Sky Sports F1.
Launching on NOW TV opens up Sky Sports to new audiences.
It is perfect for those people who want the flexibility to buy specific matches or events, or to take advantage of a whole day of live sport.
Because NOW TV offers instant access, customers can enjoy the UK’s best line-up of live sport at the touch of a button on the most popular connected devices, including Xbox 360, computers, tablets and smartphones.
Sky Sports describes 2013 as its biggest year yet, and NOW TV customers can enjoy instant access to a wide range of great matches and events.
These include live Barclays Premier League and UEFA Champions League games, all 19 Grands Prix from the Formula 1 season, and exclusive coverage of the British & Irish Lions 2013 Tour of Australia.
There is also all 10 Ashes Test matches from home and away exclusively live, three of golf’s four Majors – including The Masters, plus exclusive ATP Masters tennis, including the ATP World Tour Finals from The O2.
BSkyB’s online NOW TV venture, launched in late 2012, is a radical departure for the company which has spent more than 20 years building its business model on monthly TV subscription packages.
It allows fans to watch programming on a wide range of devices, including laptops, tablets, smartphones and games consoles, and is partially seen as a response to the arrival of US streaming giants Netflix and growth of Amazon’s LoveFilm.
NOW TV has attracted around 25,000 customers since its launch and already offers instant access to Sky Movies on a pay-as-you-go basis.
Simon Creasey, Director of NOW TV, said: “The launch of Sky Sports on NOW TV is a landmark moment for sports fans.
