FOOTBALL: Sky Sports, ESPN and BBC Alba confirm live Scottish Premier League games for May

Sky Sports, ESPN and BBC Alba have announced the live Clydesdale Bank Scottish Premier League games that will be shown during the final month of the season.

All three broadcasters will bring the 2012/13 season curtain down with live coverage of key ‘post-split’ matches, including the Edinburgh derby and 12 other games.

With Celtic extremely close to securing their second successive SPL title, as well as UEFA European qualification places for next season very much on the agenda, every match has something to offer.

Celtic could have won the title by the time they face Inverness Caledonian Thistle in their first fixture after the league split, which will also be the first live game in May on Sky Sports.

A further five fixtures will be shown live on Sky Sports as the season draws to a close.

ESPN’s live coverage in the final month of the season starts on Sunday, May 5, as they take the road north for coverage of Celtic’s trip to Ross County.

County’s Derek Adams has done an acclaimed job with the Staggies in this, their first season in the SPL.

They have already taken points off the Parkhead side this term while Neil Lennon will want his Champions elect to finish the season in style.

ESPN also has a live Friday night fixture when second-placed Motherwell travel to Tannadice to take on Dundee United in match that is vital in the battle to finish second in the SPL.

To round the season off, the ESPN team will be in Edinburgh for coverage of the final Hearts v Hibernian derby of the campaign.

This game will also be ESPN’s final live SPL broadcast as the channel ceases transmission at the end of June with the incoming BT Sport taking over ESPN’s rights contract from next season.

BBC Alba will show three free-to-air matches live during the SPL run-in, all involving Ross County.

They are away to St Johnstone on April 21, at home to Dundee United on April 26 and away to Motherwell on May 12.

The May 4 match between Hearts and St Mirren in Edinburgh will also be shown with a delayed transmission “as live”.

The final weekend of the season takes place on May 18-19 with the top six sides playing their last games on Sunday, May 19.

Sky Sports will screen one match live on the final day, which will be confirmed in the week leading up to the fixture.
