Manchester city centre plays host to a bumper weekend of top quality international athletics, featuring a line-up of Olympic and Paralympic stars, plus a selection of the world’s finest long distance runners.
More than 20,000 people are expected to gather to see some of the sport’s biggest names compete in the BT Great Manchester CityGames on Saturday, May 25, while on Sunday more than 40,000 will run the 10km Bupa Great Manchester Run.
BBC TV will live coverage of both events over the weekend which forms part of a great weekend of sport.

The 2013 European Indoor Championships take place in Gothenburg this weekend and you can watch full coverage of the biggest athletics meeting so far this year on BBC Sport and British Eurosport.
Reigning women’s 800m champion Jenny Meadows will captain a 29-strong Great Britain and Northern Ireland team, where she will be joined by the likes of Holly Bleasdale, Robbie Grabarz and Dwain Chambers in Sweden as a collection of Europe’s finest athletes assemble for the biennial championships at the Scandinavium complex.
Live coverage of every session can be seen across BBC TV throughout the weekend of March 1-3.

BBC Three will screen a fast-turnaround one-off documentary on the murder of Reeva Steenkamp who was allegedly shot to death by her boyfriend Oscar Pistorius.
The South African superstar, who won two gold medals and a silver at the Paralympic Games in London in 2012, is accused of murder, though pleads not guilty.
Rick Edwards, who recently made his debut fronting BBC Three’s Free Speech and presented Channel 4’s breakfast show during the Paralympics last summer, will present the new BBC Three documentary entitled ‘Oscar Pistorious: What Really Happened?’.

Channel 4 have offloaded the live rights to the 2013 IAAF World Athletics Championships in Moscow to the BBC.
Both broadcasters reached a “commercial agreement” which will see the transfer of the broadcast rights to next year’s showpiece athletics event pass to the corporation.
The last World Championships in Daegu in 2011 were covered by Channel 4, but the broadcaster has decided to pull the plug on their agreement with the IAAF a year early after losing out to the BBC for the next term.
The corporation were due to take back the showcase track and field contract from Channel 4 in 2014 on a four-year deal that includes the World Championships coming to London in 2017.

On the last day of competition at London 2012 the four marathon events take centre stage, with David Weir and Shelly Woods carrying the hopes for ParalympicsGB.
As the Paralympics draws to a close, all eyes will be on Weir to see if he can an historic fourth gold of these Games.
Teams will also battle it out for the last gold medals of the Games in the 7-a-side football and wheelchair rugby, before the closing ceremony begins at 8pm.

Just two days remain of London’s unforgettable summer of sport and day ten will be the last chance to catch the majority of the remaining Paralympic sports in action with 54 more gold medals to be awarded.
It’s the final night of swimming at the Aquatics Centre, with plenty of British medal prospects in action to round off a record-breaking Games in the pool, and Oscar Pistorius will hope to finish the Paralympics on a high as the Olympic Stadium hosts London 2012 action for the last time.
Among the other medals up for grabs today are the men’s wheelchair basketball, wheelchair fencing, wheelchair tennis, 5-a-side football, men’s and women’s team table tennis and sitting volleyball.

Following on from the most extraordinary night in the history of the Paralympic Games, day nine’s action will have to go some way to match the sheer drama and intensity of ‘Thriller Thursday’.
More British gold medals are expected to come following yesterday’s haul of five. Rachel Morris defends the handcycling gold medal she won by three clear minutes in Beijing, Jim Anderson performs in the men’s S2 50m freestyle, and Micky Bushell (above) is one of the favourites for the T53 200m title.

South African superstar Oscar Pistorius defends his T44 100m title against the USA’s Jerome Singleton and ParalympicsGB’s Jonnie Peacock (above), who recently knocked 0.06 seconds off the world record.
David Weir will be out to retain his T54 800m title, while Libby Clegg has her eyes on the T12 200m top spot after securing silver in Beijing.
