BASKETBALL: NBA returns to Sky Sports

Sky Sports will show NBA London Live 2013 as part of a new agreement to broadcast selected live games from the world’s most popular basketball league during the remainder of the current season.

Coverage returns to the broadcaster after a six-year absence and will begin with the NBA’s third regular-season game in the United Kingdom, which sees the New York Knicks take on the Detroit Pistons at London’s O2 Arena.

Sky’s NBA coverage continues with live Sunday night games for the rest of the regular season, including double-headers most weekends, followed by live NBA Playoff games, the entire Eastern Conference Finals, and every game of the NBA Finals in June.

SQUASH: ATCO PSA World Series Squash Finals 2013 – Live on Sky Sports

London’s famous Queen’s Club will be graced by the greatest squash players on the planet this weekend as the ATCO PSA World Series Finals draw to a close.

Eight of the greatest male and female players in the squash world will be going head-to-head to decide who will be crowned champions after five days of action.

The pinnacle of the squash calendar returns to Queen’s for the fourth consecutive year from January 2-6 with the closing two days of the tournament being broadcast live on Sky Sports.

FORMULA 1: Sky Sports wins FIA award in debut season of F1 coverage

Sky Sports has been awarded the ‘Best TV Broadcast Award for Outstanding Coverage’ following the debut season of its dedicated Formula 1 channel.

The award was presented to Sky Sports F1 by FOM chairman Bernie Ecclestone at the 2012 FIA Prize Giving Ceremony in Istanbul on Friday, December 7, where the FIA World Championship presentations were also made.

BOXING: Hatton Promotions to look for new TV platform after split from Sky Sports

Ricky Hatton has vowed to give his stable of fighters a new television home after confirming that Hatton Promotions has split from Sky Sports.

The boxing world was shocked to learn that the broadcaster decided not to give his company any further dates after their Manchester Velodrome super show on June 16.

Former two-weight world champion Hatton claims he has been “unfairly treated” by Sky Sports bosses, with the broadcaster confirming that they are focusing on “quality rather than quantity” when they put together their boxing schedule for 2012/2013.

CRICKET: Sky Sports secures new ICC deal

England’s men and women’s cricket teams will defend their ICC world crowns exclusively live on Sky Sports under a new four-year deal.

The agreement with global rights holders and ICC host broadcaster ESPN Star Sports awards Sky Sports the rights to show all ICC events until 2015, beginning with this autumn’s World Twenty20 in Sri Lanka, and includes the next 50-over World Cup in Australasia.

GOLF: Sky Sports extends Ryder Cup and European Tour partnership to 2018

Sky Sports has won the rights to screen exclusive live coverage of three more Ryder Cups and a further six years of European Tour golf.

The new broadcast arrangement means Sky Sports subscribers can continue to enjoy weekly coverage of the world’s best golf tournaments featuring the sport’s best players, including Rory McIlroy, Luke Donald and Lee Westwood, as well as Europe’s spellbinding contests against the United States until 2018.
