FORMULA 1: 2013 season on the BBC – Everything you need to know

The BBC will bring all the Formula 1 action, news and interviews throughout the 2013 season across television, radio, online and mobile.

This year will see an increased live presence for F1 on network television as all three practice sessions during the BBC’s nine live races will be shown live for the first time on BBC Two and the new BBC Two HD channel.

Some new faces have been added to the BBC TV and radio presentation teams for the 2013 season, including presenter Suzi Perry, pit-lane reporter Tom Clarkson and Allan McNish, who joins BBC Radio 5 live as an expert analyst for at least six races.

Forming part of bumper summer of sport on British soil, Silverstone will be the setting for the ninth round of this year’s Formula 1 World Championship.

FORMULA 1: 2012 season on the BBC – Everything you need to know

Formula 1 on the BBC enters a new era in 2012, with the corporation aiming to build on its multi-award-winning coverage over the last three years and provide fans another compelling year of racing.

It is the first time since the sport returned to the BBC in 2009 that they will not be showing every race live on TV, after the corporation decided to approach Sky Sports to form a controversial shared arrangement last year.

But terrestrial viewers can still follow the entire 20-race season on BBC Television, with full live coverage of 10 grands prix, along extended highlights of the other 10 events throughout the season.

FORMULA 1: BBC announces 2012 season line-up

The BBC has confirmed the names that will form its new-look Formula 1 team for the 2012 season.

Following the high-profile departures of commentator Martin Brundle and pit-lane reporter Ted Kravitz to Sky Sports, the corporation has found two experienced replacements to fill those roles.

As reported in December, Ben Edwards will partner David Coulthard in the commentary box, while technical analysis and expertise will be provided by former F1 technical director Gary Anderson.

FORMULA 1: Ben Edwards to join BBC as lead commentator

Popular motorsport broadcaster Ben Edwards has confirmed that he will step in to replace the departing Martin Brundle as the BBC’s lead Formula 1 commentator next year.

Edwards will join forces with David Coulthard in the commentary box for 10 live grands prix in 2012, as well peak-time highlights of every non-live race.

He announced on Twitter: “So, it looks as though it’s really happening. I will be the BBC F1 commentator in 2012 and I can’t wait!”
