DARTS: BBC extends BDO World Championships TV deal until 2016

BBC Sport has extended its commitment to screen free-to-air coverage of the British Darts Organisation’s World Professional Championships until 2016.

The new deal was announced on the eve of the 2013 tournament beginning at the famous Lakeside Country Club in Frimley Green, and will extend the BBC’s long-standing partnership with the BDO to almost 40 years.

DARTS: BDO Lakeside World Professional Championships 2013 – Live on BBC TV & ESPN

BBC Sport and ESPN will have comprehensive coverage of the 2013 BDO Lakeside World Professional Darts Championships from January 5-13.

Dutchman Christian Kist and Russia’s Anastasia Dobromyslova return to the famous Lakeside Country Club in Surrey to defend their titles against the best players from the BDO circuit.

For the second year running, both the BBC and ESPN will share live coverage of the nine-day tournament, culminating with the men’s final exclusively live on BBC Two on January 13.

DARTS: ESPN to broadcast 2012 World Masters

ESPN will broadcast live coverage of the BDO Winmau World Masters for a second consecutive year.

The tournament will take place between October 10-14 at Hull’s City Hall, with ESPN broadcasting exclusively live coverage of key sessions over the final three days.

DARTS: BDO Lakeside World Professional Championship 2012 – Live on BBC / ESPN

BBC and ESPN will be screening over 60 hours of coverage from the 2012 Lakeside World Professional Darts Championships.

Now in 35th year, the British Darts Organisation’s premier tournament will feature 32 of its top players, including reigning three-time champion Martin Adams, 2011 runner-up Dean Winstanley, two-time winner Ted Hankey, and 2010 Grand Slam of Darts champion Scott Waites.

DARTS: ESPN picks up BDO World Masters from BBC

ESPN has won the rights to the BDO Winmau World Masters tournament, which was previously aired by the BBC, as it looks to push beyond its core sports of football and rugby.

The broadcaster would not reveal the terms or duartion of the deal, but sources suggested it is already running the rule over more darts rights.

The tournament will be ESPN’s first live darts programming in the UK and has been extended to a three-day event as part of the deal. It previously aired for nine years on the BBC.
