BBC Sport has captured the majority of the main headlines and compelling stories that have absorbed millions across the nation throughout this vintage year, including the Six Nations, Euro 2012, Wimbledon and Formula 1, with the spectacular London 2012 Olympic Games taking centre stage for 17 glorious days in the summer.

XMAS WATCH: Sports Documentaries/Reviews on ITV4

A host of sports documentaries and review shows are to be broadcast on ITV4 as part of the channel’s Christmas schedules.

The programmes feature all the best moments from some of ITV’s top sporting events from 2012, including Bradley Wiggins’ magnificent Tour de France success, the story of the Euro 2012 and Chelsea’s phenominal UEFA Champions League triumph, as well as reviews of the British Superbikes and the British Touring Car Championship seasons.

There are also repeat showings of some of ITV4’s various motorsport programmes from 2012, including reviews of the Goodwood Festival of Speed and Revival, and the Isle of Man TT.

FOOTBALL: UEFA Euro 2012 – Quarter Finals live on BBC & ITV

The BBC and ITV have agreed the division of games for the quarter-final stages of Euro 2012.

Played over four consecutive evenings from June 14, each broadcaster will screen two of the quarter-finals exclusively live, with BBC having first and fourth choice matches, while ITV have second and third picks.

FOOTBALL: UEFA Euro 2012 – Live on ITV

ITV Sport is set to bring football fans comprehensive coverage of what promises to be a fantastic Euro 2012 tournament in Poland and Ukraine.

The action kicks off on the opening day on June 8, and will include England’s opening game at Euro 2012 against France three days later.

Adrian Chiles lead’s ITV’s coverage and will be joined by an all-star panel of experts to guide viewers through all the drama, with the ITV team based in a specially constructed studio in Warsaw, Poland.

FOOTBALL: UEFA Euro 2012 – Live on the BBC

It is the biggest ever summer of sport on the BBC, and the UEFA European Football Championships in Poland and Ukraine will take centre stage throughout the whole of June, with extensive TV, radio and online coverage.

Kicking off on June 8 and culminating with the final in Kiev on July 1, the BBC TV’s coverage of the continent’s showpiece event will be led once again by Gary Lineker, with 16 live games to broadcast on BBC One and BBC Three, including a potential England quarter final, both semi finals and the final.

FOOTBALL: Harry Redknapp to join BBC Sport for Euro 2012

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp is to join the BBC Sport team as a pundit for this summer’s European Football Championships.

Redknapp, who had been linked with the England manager’s job, will instead join up with BBC regulars Alan Hansen, Alan Shearer and Lee Dixon to offer expert analysis on the matches in Poland and Ukraine.

Kicking off on June 8, the BBC’s Euro 2012 coverage will be led by Gary Lineker, with special guests including Jurgen Klinsmann, Clarence Seedorf and David James.

BBC TV will show 16 live games, including a potential England quarter-finals, both semi-finals, and the final, shared with ITV, on July 1.
