BOXING: Ricky Burns becomes the latest fighter to join Matchroom Boxing and Sky Sports

Ricky Burns has joined Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing after the promoter confirmed the Scottish fighter’s controversial switch from Frank Warren’s stable.

The two-weight World Champion will fight for the first time under Eddie Hearn live on Sky Sports on May 11, at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow.

Burns’ last outing was his comprehensive win over Kevin Mitchell at the SECC in Glasgow on September, where the 29-year-old defended his WBO Lightweight title in style with a fourth round stoppage.

The Scottish fighter’s departure from Frank Warren’s stable follows just days after George Groves made the same move across to Matchroom.

The crème de la crème of northern hemisphere rugby go head-to-head in the battle for the sport’s biggest honours in the 2012/13 Heineken Cup and Amlin Challenge Cup competitions.

Club sides from England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland, France and Italy will all be vying to rip the trophy from Leinster, who last season became only the second side to both successfully retain the title and lift a third European honour.

The final round of the pool stages takes place this weekend with quarter-final places at stake, and Sky Sports will again screen 11 live Heineken Cup games as well as one match from the Amlin Challenge Cup.

CYCLING: UCI Track World Cup 2012/13 – Round 2, Glasgow – Exclusively live on BBC TV

The first major international track cycling event in the UK since London 2012 takes place this weekend as Glasgow plays host to round two of the 2012-2013 UCI Track Cycling World Cup series.

Some of Team GB’s Olympic cycling stars, including double gold medallists Jason Kenny, Laura Trott, and Ed Clancy will receive a heroes welcome from a sell-out crowd inside the brand new Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome, which makes its debut on the international stage.

BBC Sport will have exclusive coverage on TV, radio and online of all the key action from Glasgow from November 16-18.

TENNIS: Davis Cup – Great Britain v Hungary on British Eurosport

British Eurosport will broadcast Great Britain’s Davis Cup promotion play-off against Hungary this weekend.

Leon Smith’s team returns to Scotland looking for a fourth consecutive victory in the competition.

The Davis Cup Europe/Africa Zone Group II play-off clash will once again be played at Braehead Arena, Glasgow from 16-18 September and will see the victors promoted to Europe/Africa Group I, just below the top World Group.

British Eurosport will provide exclusive coverage of each day’s action and will show every match live as Hungary face a passionate home crowd.

GLASGOW 2014: BBC to screen Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games

BBC Sport has won the rights to screen exclusive coverage of the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

The £5m deal means the corporation will broadcast events on television and radio and provide online coverage for the home nations.

In addition to securing the rights to broadcast the 2014 Games, the BBC has also agreed to work with the organisers on a number of fronts, including assistance in appointing a host production broadcaster.
