TV: BT Sport announces on-air presentation line-up

BT Sport has revealed its full line-up of presenters, analysts, commentators and reporters ahead the network’s launch this summer.

Among the BT team are some big name signings from the worlds of football, rugby union and tennis, plus brief details of two new regular sports magazine shows presented by Clare Balding and Tim Lovejoy.

Alongside a raft of major announcements made at BT Sport’s new headquarters on the Olympic Park, the channel’s advertising campaign hits television screens which reveasl the exciting and accessible personality of its new channels.

BT Sport has also set its launch date – Thursday, August 1, 2013.

RACING: Channel 4 stages horse race through streets of Liverpool to promote Grand National coverage

Liverpool’s iconic city centre is the backdrop for a horse race as Channel 4 filmed a brand new marketing campaign ahead of its first ever Grand National, featuring a 10 horse race through the streets of the city.

Ahead of the 2013 John Smith’s Grand National meeting which takes place on April 4-6, the race featured horses and jockeys racing through the streets around Everton Park in the city – including jumping through back gardens, allotments; over cars and picnic benches.

Over 50 hours of footage was captured from 25 cameras that has been encapsulated into a 90-second trailer which premiered on all Channel 4 networks (C4, E4, More4 and Film4) at 9.00pm on Tuesday, March 19.

LONDON 2012: Channel 4 Paralympics campaign wins major awards

Channel 4’s ‘Meet The Superhumans’ tag-line for the London 2012 Paralympic Games has emerged as one of the most successful marketing campaigns of the year after winning a host of awards.

As well as sweeping the board at the Promax Awards and the British Television Advertising Awards, Channel 4’s innovative work on promoting the Paralympics has also been given the prestigious Campaign of the Year award by Campaign magazine.

ATHLETICS: Channel 4 hands 2013 World Championships rights to the BBC

Channel 4 have offloaded the live rights to the 2013 IAAF World Athletics Championships in Moscow to the BBC.

Both broadcasters reached a “commercial agreement” which will see the transfer of the broadcast rights to next year’s showpiece athletics event pass to the corporation.

The last World Championships in Daegu in 2011 were covered by Channel 4, but the broadcaster has decided to pull the plug on their agreement with the IAAF a year early after losing out to the BBC for the next term.

The corporation were due to take back the showcase track and field contract from Channel 4 in 2014 on a four-year deal that includes the World Championships coming to London in 2017.

FOOTBALL: Being Liverpool – New six-part documentary series on Channel 5

Liverpool FC becomes the first Premier League club to open its doors to the cameras for a ground-breaking documentary series that goes behind the scenes with unprecedented access to the club, the players and the management.

Narrated by life-long fan Clive Owen and produced by Emmy Award-winning Scott Boggins, Being: Liverpool will make its UK debut when the first of six episodes airs exclusively on Channel 5 at 9pm on Friday, September 21.

Viewers will see the players and management as they’ve never seen them before, as the cameras take fans into the inner-workings of one of Britain’s most famous football clubs.

BOXING: Haye v Chisora – Live on BoxNation

David Haye and Dereck Chisora take their fierce and bitter rivalry into the ring as two British heavyweights go toe-to-toe at Upton Park on Saturday night, exclusively live on BoxNation.

Both fighters will finally have the opportunity to settle their differences following their infamous brawl in Munich back in February, in what promises to be one of the most controversial but eagerly anticipated all-British fights of recent years.

Haye and Chisora will battle for the WBO International and WBA Intercontinental Heavyweight Championships, in a fight being billed as “Licensed to Thrill”.
