Snooker’s greatest prize is up for grabs in Sheffield as the city plays host to 17 days of slow-burning tension and drama with 32 of the world’s finest players going head-to-head for the 2013 World Championship trophy.

Last year’s winner Ronnie O’Sullivan returns to the Crucible Theatre to defend his title, marking his high-profile comeback to the sport following self-imposed break, and is among the favourites for glory despite having played just one competitive match since his Sheffield triumph last May.

BBC Sport and British Eurosport will have comprehensive coverage of the 2013 Betfair World Championship across all platforms, with the tournament starting in Sheffield on Saturday, April 20, running until May 6.

BOXING: Amir Khan v Julio Diaz live on BoxNation

British boxing superstar Amir ‘King’ Khan’s first fight in the UK in two years will be screened exclusively live on BoxNation.

The Bolton fighter, a former unified IBF and WBA Super World Light-Welterweight champion, takes on Julio ‘The Kidd’ Diaz, himself a former world champion, on Saturday, April 27, at the Motorpoint Arena in Sheffield.

In addition to Khan’s BoxNation debut, Golden Boy Promotion’s Sheffield bill also includes Team GB Olympian Anthony Ogogo making his professional debut, as will Khan’s brother Haroon.

DARTS: BDO Lakeside World Professional Championships 2013 – Live on BBC TV & ESPN

BBC Sport and ESPN will have comprehensive coverage of the 2013 BDO Lakeside World Professional Darts Championships from January 5-13.

Dutchman Christian Kist and Russia’s Anastasia Dobromyslova return to the famous Lakeside Country Club in Surrey to defend their titles against the best players from the BDO circuit.

For the second year running, both the BBC and ESPN will share live coverage of the nine-day tournament, culminating with the men’s final exclusively live on BBC Two on January 13.

ATHLETICS: IAAF World Indoor Championships 2012 – Live on Channel 4

Channel 4 has confirmed its on-screen line-up for the forthcoming IAAF World Athletics Championships in Daegu, South Korea.

Four-time Olympic gold-medallist athlete Michael Johnson will be part of a winning line-up of sporting greats hosting the channel’s live and exclusive coverage of the IAAF World Athletics Championships.

The world-famous, nine-time world champion, who is also a regular BBC pundit, will join main presenter Ortis Deley on the flagship programme to give his views on the action from the track.
