GOLF: US Open 2013 – Exclusively live on Sky Sports

Make way for the big guns as the stars of the golfing world will be out in force this week for the 113th US Open, the second Major championship of the season.

All four days of competition from Merion Golf Club’s East Course will be again be shown exclusively live on Sky Sports.

Opened in 1912, the East Course has hosted the US Open on four previous occasions and produced four different winners.

FOOTBALL: Scottish Cup Final 2013 – Hibernian v Celtic – Live on BBC Scotland & Sky Sports

With the SPL title all wrapped up, Celtic look to complete the domestic double as they take on Hibernian in the 2013 William Hill Scottish Cup Final.

Scotland’s showpiece match sees Pat Fenlon’s Hibernian take on Neil Lennon’s side for the oldest national trophy in the world, which was first played for in 1874.

Both BBC One Scotland and Sky Sports will simulcast live coverage of the conclusion to the Scottish football season at Hampden Park on Sunday, May 26.

FOOTBALL: Sky Sports secures live home nations qualifiers for Euro 2016 and World Cup 2018

Sky Sports has been awarded the rights to screen all home nations and Republic of Ireland qualification matches for Euro 2016 and the 2018 World Cup.

The new agreement with UEFA provides Sky Sports with live coverage all Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland games, together with highlights of England qualifiers and a selection of live matches featuring non-home nation sides.

In a seperate announcement, Sky Sports has officially confirmed it will screen this summer’s European Under-21 Championships in Israel exclusively live.

BOXING: Alexander v Purdy & Prizefighter Cruiserweights III – Live on Sky Sports

Sky Sports will screen a bumper double-header of international boxing this Saturday night (May 18).

Eight hours of continuous live coverage begins with the 30th installment of Prizefighter – the third edition of the cruiserweights – at the event’s spiritual home of York Hall in Bethnal Green.

Then at 12.30am, attention switches Stateside as Britain’s Lee Purdy aims to cause a major upset when he fights Devon Alexander for the IBF world welterweight title Atlantic City.

TV: BT Sport to offer new channels to BT broadband customers at no extra cost

BT has promised to return televised sport to grassroots fans as it announces that five million BT broadband customers will able to watch the BT Sport channels free of charge when it launches on August 1.

This includes access to its three channels – BT Sport 1, BT Sport 2 and ESPN – which will all be packed with world class sport, including Barclays Premier League football and Aviva Premiership rugby, with additional costs for high-definition services.

Sky TV customers with a BT broadband package will also be watch BT Sport for free, while non-BT internet customers with Sky will have to pay £12 per month to access the channels.

At present, Virgin Media, TalkTalk TV and Freesat customers will not be able to access to BT’s new sports channels via their television sets, although households with a BT broadband package can watch the channels online.

GOLF: The Players Championship 2013 – Live on Sky Sports

TENNIS: Sky Sports retains US Open and ATP World Tour rights

Sky Sports has secured major rights renewals for two of its most long-standing contracts to cover the US Open and ATP World Tour events.

The broadcaster has renewed the rights to screen the final Grand Slam of the calendar year in New York, where Britain’s Andy Murray won his first major title in 2012, in a new three-year deal starting in August.

Sky have also secured the rights to continue broadcasting exclusive live coverage of the top events on the ATP World Tour calendar for five more years up to 2018, including all nine ATP Masters 1000 events and the season-ending ATP World Tour Finals at London’s O2 Arena.

RUGBY UNION: Sky Sports to show RaboDirect Pro12 games from 2014/15 season

Sky Sports has signed a four-year deal to broadcast matches from the RaboDirect Pro12 for the first time, beginning in the 2014/15 season.

Featuring the top club sides from Ireland, Wales, Scotland and Italy, including Europe’s current number one ranked side Leinster, defending champions Ospreys and current leaders Ulster, the new non-exclusive deal will reportedly signal a boost of around 50% on existing Pro12 TV rights revenues.

Regional Pro12 broadcasters such as BBC Wales, BBC NI, BBC Alba and S4C are expected to continue screening live matches alongside Sky’s UK-wide coverage from 2014/15, ensuring the continuation of free-to-air coverage for viewers in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

FOOTBALL: Jamie Carragher joins Sky Sports

Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher will join the Sky Sports punditry team for the 2013/14 season.

The 35-year-old, who will retire from playing at the end of the current campaign, will work alongside established Sky pundits Gary Neville, Graeme Souness, Jamie Redknapp and Alan Smith next term.

Carragher has spent his entire career at Liverpool, racking up over 730 appearances and winning the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Cup, two UEFA Super Cups, two FA Cups and three League Cups.

BOXING: Jamie McDonnell’s world title fight live on Primetime

Jamie McDonnell’s world title fight against unbeaten Julio Ceja will be televised by pay-per-view network Primetime.

McDonnell faces the big punching Mexican for the vacant IBF bantamweight crown at Doncaster’s Keepmoat Stadium on May 11, as he aims to become the town’s first ever boxing world champion.

The fight, plus several undercard bouts, will be available to watch for £10.95 on Sky, Virgin, online and via the Primetime App for smartphones/iPad.

FOOTBALL: David Beckham and Sky join forces to promote grassroots sport

David Beckham is to join Sky Sports as an ambassador promoting its grassroots sport initiative Living for Sport.

Described as a ‘long-term partnership’, the deal will see Beckham play a leading role across the breadth of Sky’s work to support grassroots sport and encourage participation across Britain and Ireland.

The former England captain, who now plays for France’s Ligue 1 leaders Paris St-Germain, will also feature in adverts to promote the media giant’s range of live sport and services.
