The top two throwers from 24 nations will step up to the oche to battle in straight knockout competition and Sky Sports will show all three days of the £150,000 event exclusively live.

England’s pairing of Phil Taylor and Adrian Lewis lifted the title in 2012 after defeating Australian duo Simon Whitlock and Paul Nicholson in a breathtaking final.

CYCLING: Oprah Winfrey’s interview with Lance Armstrong to be broadcast on Discovery in the UK

Lance Armstrong will break his long silence over allegations that he cheated his way to seven Tour de France titles in his first ‘no-holds-barred’ interview with US talk-show host Oprah Winfrey.

Armstrong will address the alleged doping scandal, years of accusations of cheating and charges of lying about the use of performance-enhancing drugs throughout his storied cycling career.

The interview will be broadcast in two parts, this first of which will air in the United States at 9pm ET on Thursday, January 17, and viewers in the UK can watch a live simulcast of the full interview on the Discovery Channel or online via Oprah.com at 2.00am GMT, early on Friday morning.

RACING: Racing UK takes Ascot from At The Races

Racing UK will gain a hugely significant addition to its roster of televised tracks following a decision by Ascot to award them the broadcast rights for all events at the famous racecourse from June 2014.

The country’s premier venue, home to Royal Ascot every June, will link up with Racecourse Media Group, the parent company of Racing UK which already broadcasts action from the majority of the UK’s major racecourses, including Cheltenham, Aintree, Epsom, Newmarket, York and Goodwood.

The move is a significant setback for rival channel At The Races, which has held the rights to Ascot race meetings since 2004, and is now left with a portfolio mainly consisting of middle and low-grade courses.

RUGBY LEAGUE: Championships Finals Day 2012 – Live on Premier Sports Extra

Premier Sports will broadcast exclusive coverage of the finale to the 2012 Co-operative Championship season.

Live coverage of both the RFL Championship and Championship One grand finals will be shown on Premier Sports Extra this Sunday, forming part of the channel’s Super Sunday Finals Day line-up.

A bumper six-hour celebration of Rugby League gets underway at 1pm, with the full Premier Sports on-screen team of Dave Woods, Ian Ramsdale, Natalie Quirk and Brian Noble guiding viewers through the day’s events.

LONDON 2012: Paralympics Closing Ceremony – Exclusively live on Channel 4
