FOOTBALL: FA Women’s Cup Final 2013 – Arsenal v Bristol Academy – Live on BBC Two

Women’s football’s showpiece match of the season takes place at Doncaster’s Keepmoat Stadium as Arsenal Ladies take on Bristol Academy in the 2013 FA Women’s Cup Final.

This year marks 20 years since the Football Association took over the running of the women’s game and the 2013 final will be staged at the home of Doncaster Rovers Belles, one of women’s football’s most famous clubs, who won the first Women’s Cup under the FA’s auspices in 1994.

The match also returns to terrestrial television for the first time since 2009 as BBC Two and BBC Two HD screens live coverage on Sunday, May 26, signalling the start of an amazing summer of women’s football with the UEFA Women’s Euro 2013 finals following in July.

FOOTBALL: BT Sport to screen FA WSL games

BT Sport has announced a major commitment to women’s football in an exciting new broadcast partnership with the FA.

The telecoms giant has acquired exclusive rights to screen selected live FA Women’s Super League (FA WSL) matches, currently broadcast on ESPN.

In addition, BT is to become one of the founding partners of a new commercial programme for women’s football from 2014 to 2018, which will see the company sponsor the England Women’s senior team and the FA Women’s Cup.

FOOTBALL: BBC Sport confirms UEFA Women’s Euro 2013 coverage

BBC Sport has announced that live TV coverage of the 2013 Women’s European Football Championship will have a new home on BBC Three.

With England representing the home nations, football fans will be able to tune in to BBC Three for a host of live matches as well as extensive highlights throughout the tournament that takes place in Sweden between July 10-28.

The BBC has also confirmed that it will screen this summer’s FIFA Confederations Cup in Brazil which runs from June 15-30, forming part of a busy summer of international football.

FOOTBALL: BBC Sport boosts commitment to women’s football

BBC Sport has announced a raft of new programming which will see an increased commitment to women’s football across its TV, radio and online platforms.

In a welcome boost its profile following a breakthrough year in 2012, there will be more air-time and coverage dedicated to women’s football on the BBC than ever before, including continued live coverage of England internationals as well as the Women’s FA Cup Final, which returns to the BBC in 2013.

For the first time there will be regular terrestrial highlights of the FA Women’s Super League (FA WSL), the semi-professional summer football league introduced in 2011.

In addition, the BBC will provide extensive coverage of the 2013 UEFA Women’s European Championships in Sweden.

The Women’s FA Cup Final will return to terrestrial television in 2013 after the BBC regained the rights to broadcast English womens football’s showpiece match.

The 2013 final will be staged at the Keepmoat Stadium, home to Doncaster Rovers Belles, on Sunday, May 26 and will be broadcast live on BBC Two and the soon-to-be-launched BBC Two HD channel.

It promises to signal the start of an amazing summer of women’s football, building up to BBC TV’s live coverage of the UEFA Women’s Euro 2013 finals in July.

CRICKET: ICC Women’s World Cup 2013 – Live on Sky Sports

A colossal year for women’s cricket begins on January 31 when the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup gets underway, exclusively live on Sky Sports.

Sky Sports will show live games throughout the competition as Charlotte Edwards’ team, currently the highest ranked nation in women’s one-day cricket, aim to defend the title they won in Sydney four years ago.

NETBALL: International Series – England v Australia – Live on Sky Sports

England’s women launch another bid to make netball history when their three-game Test series with world number one side Australia gets underway, with live coverage on Sky Sports.

Head coach Anna Mayes leads her team to contest the first match of the series against the Diamonds at the University of Bath on Sunday, January 20, before heading to the capital and Wembley Arena on Wednesday evening.

They will conclude the series at the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham on Saturday, January 26, with Sky Sports screening live coverage of all three games from the series, plus live radio commentary for the first time on BBC 5 live Sports Extra.
